Waiting time
doesn’t have to be
wasted time.
Greenlight HELP empowers parents to learn about their child's growth and development — in the clinic waiting room, doctor's office, and at home.

What We Do
Understanding health information can be overwhelming, especially for parents of a young child. In the pediatric clinic waiting room, HELP Project staff and volunteers share information and problem-solving strategies to help parents make changes to keep their child growing healthy and strong.
Our initiative supports evidence-based obesity prevention messages given by pediatricians, starting in a baby‘s first months of life. Topics include breastfeeding, satiety cues, introducing solid food, physical activity and behavioral issues.
Parents can access each component at at parents.greenlighthelp.org.
Program Components
The Greenlight HELP initiative focuses on children from
2 months to 2 years of age. A health literacy approach was used to design
the three main components. Materials are available in English and Spanish.

Greenlight HELP Partnership
The Greenlight HELP initiative is a partnership between Greenlight, an evidence-based program that seeks to prevent obesity starting in a baby’s first month of life, and the HELP Project, an interactive, parent-directed health literacy program.
Building on Greenlight‘s research and materials, this initiative extends the reach of Greenlight‘s obesity prevention messages beyond the doctor‘s office into clinic waiting rooms and homes. Our combined mission is to use a health literacy approach to help parents see their visit to the doctor as an opportunity to get useful information to help their children grow healthy and strong.
